Women's Clothing Fashion

Women’s clothing has always taken center stage when it comes to fashion and trends. Even though women’s clothing in the past seemed complex and restrained, these designs reflect historically how women of today have, without a doubt, evolved. The same thing goes with accessories such as handbags and jewelry that complete the ensemble. Both are, of course, available at all women’s clothing stores worldwide.

History of Women’s Clothing

The history of women’s clothing is still being celebrated in any runways around the world. Designers continue to feature bits and pieces of the past, from Victorian to haute couture to the grunge and rave look. Women’s fashion during the Victorian Era featured prim sentimentality using crinolines, bustles and “S” bend corsets. As a result, the Victorian look of women’s clothing evolved into the haute couture era which features low busts, curvy hips and shorter gowns. The 1920s ushered in the modern era of women’s fashion, with women wearing pants and short skirts. After that, the designs and trends for women’s fashion were revolutionized by making clothes that mirrored the different kinds of women in society from moms to CEOs.

Development of Women’s Accessories

On the other hand, women’s accessories developed alongside women’s clothing. We can see pictures of ancient civilizations with women garbed in different costumes and accessories. These included head or hair wear, jewelry, and foot wear. During the 1800s, the Regency Era, the fashionable woman accessorized with shawls (light weight robes), hats, reticule handbags (small decorative purses), jewelry, the Tippet (a long slender boa/scarf made of swansdown or fur), shoes, cloak or mantles/mantelets (made of fur which are trimmed and lined), and gloves (night gloves were very long reaching to the sleeves), among many others. These fashion add-ons continued to evolve into what the women’s accessories we know today.

Clothing Stores Today & The Modern Woman

Most women’s clothing stores today carry everything that the modern woman needs. From the smallest pin to elaborate evening wear, unless the women’s clothing store just sells exclusive items, you can usually find everything at any department store or boutique. The most famous designers in the world also have their own stores dedicated to women’s fashion. These include Armani, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and Monique Lhullier, among many others.
