What is a Sports Bar?

A bar is an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages such as beer, mixed drinks, and occasionally wine, to patrons for consumption on the premises. Most bars also feature some sort of entertainment. The type of bar is determined by the type of clientele it serves. A sports bar is the place for sports fans; here, sports fans get to follow the action of any number of sports matches by viewing any of several large screen televisions. Sports bars provide a lively place to meet and interact with other fans like you with similar interests.

Sports Bar Prevalence

Any given town is sure to have at least a few bars. And likely, at least one is going to also be a sports bar as well. In addition to big screen televisions, sports bars also prominently feature a wide array of gaming options. Play billards, shuffleboard, darts or foosball, before during or after the big game. Some sports bars even participate in fantasy leagues, or in pop trivia. Or, stop in on the weekend to catch karaoke or the hottest bands. Sports bars are everywhere there is a sports fan, which makes them pretty much ubiquitous.

As sports bars typically cater to a more masculine crowd (although there are plenty female patrons, rest assured), the food is simple, satisfying, and plentiful. Grab a plate of Buffalo wings, or try some barbeque. Maybe a club sandwich and fries with a brew will fit the bill. Just have the munchies? Pretzels, peanuts, and chips are always available. From appetizers to entrées, there is always something great on the menu at a sports bar.
