Readjustment to Health - Chiropractic Clinics
If your stress is high, and your well being is low, then chances are you could do with an adjustment and re-alignment. No, not your automobileâ YOU. Chiropractors are trained professionals whose ultimate goal is to help you target the sources of pain in the body and treat using a variety of methods. Chiropractic clinics are places where chiropractors operate.
The use of chiropractic techniques dates back to the 1800âs, with the basic premises of chiropractic care dating back to Ancient Greece. In the last two decades the use of chiropractors has become extremely popular, with the number of Americans routinely using chiropractic clinics nearly tripling.
Chiropractors as Trained Professionals
For the most part, aspiring chiropractic students enter chiropractor school only after completing a four year degree at an accredited university. However, only a few schools in the United States actually require this. Chiropractor schools in the United States are regulated by the Council on Chiropractic Education. After finishing required coursework, chiropractors become certified by completing board exams administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. They must also meet state specific requirements.
Treatments Available at Chiropractic Clinics
Spinal adjustment is perhaps the most common form of treatment done at a chiropractic clinic. During this treatment, chiropractors âcrackâ the back, which helps restore alignment and cure back pain. Flexion distraction is used to treat back pain, particularly pain that is accompanied by leg pain. This method involves the use of a special type of table that stretches the spine gently, while simultaneously stimulating it in order to find the source of the nerves which are causing the pain. The procedure itself is actually painless, and quite effective. Applied Kinesiology is another method of treatment used in chiropractic clinics. To do this, your chiropractor uses a machine to test the muscles of the body and take measurements, which are in turn used to identify the source of the pain. Flexion distraction and applied kinesiology are used as part of a physiotherapy routine.
Getting in for Treatment
Chiropractic clinics are usually independently owned and operated. Chiropractors see patients both on a referral and routine basis after accidents and as a form of general health care. Many insurance companies now cover the cost of chiropractors, making it even more appealing as a health care option for pain management. Chiropractic clinics are plentiful, and fairly easy to find. If you arenât feeling like yourself, a visit or two to a chiropractic clinic can put you on the mend FAST!
