Looking for Adventure - Motorhomes

Motorhomes are mobile vehicles that are equipped to serve the dual purpose of providing transportation and serving as a home.  They are also called recreational vehicles, or RV’s.  Motorhomes have many uses.  They are intended to provide shelter for vacations, camping trips, and everything in between.  They are also suitable for full time or long term living!  While motorhomes can be bought, they can also be rented in almost all major cities, particularly those near tourist attractions.

In cases where work must be done onsite, motorhomes can also serve as mobile offices.  Motorhomes serving this purpose come equipped with special features, such as desk space, extra circuitry for operating office machines, generators, and even Internet services. 

Types of Motorhomes Available

There are different types of motorhomes, based on how they are built and the purpose they serve.  Class A motorhomes are those built on a commercial bus or truck chassis, or on a specially made motor vehicle chassis.  Luxury Bus Conversion motorhomes are made from commercial passenger busses that have been converted.  These are top of the line vehicles and often come customized with many luxury components.  Class B campervans are coach built, featuring a conventional van with a raised roof.  Class C motorhomes are characterized by having a truck chassis to which a cab and entertainment sections.  These are also known as mini-motorhomes.  In addition to these common types of motorhomes, truck campers are available, which are temporarily attached to the bed of a pickup truck.  These are popular among campers and hunters. 

Basic Features of Motorhomes

Motorhomes typically have many nice features to make them comfortable.  At the minimum, motorhomes will come equipped with beds, storage areas, living spaces, and food prep areas.  Some larger models might even feature separate master suites, full size bathrooms, and satellite television and internet access.  Some even come equipped to provide storage or towing capability for smaller cars.  While fuel economy can be fairly low, many still prefer motorhome travel, to allow them to comfortably lounge and keep those touches of home close to them.  If you are thinking about hitting the open road, consider riding in motorhome style!
